This is a Taiwanese-made Tube Screamer from the "POWER Series," released in 1986!

This is the TUBE SCREAMER CLASSIC from the "POWER Series," released around 1985. It's a highly popular model, used by Stevie Ray Vaughan in the past and more recently by John Mayer. While it features either an MC4558, JRC4558D (glossy), or JRC4558D (matte) op-amp, this particular unit is Taiwanese-made and features the MC4558. Units equipped with the "JRC4558D (glossy)" were limited to the early production run up to around 1987. Around the same time, Taiwanese production lines were added, resulting in Taiwanese-made units being produced alongside Japanese-made ones. This particular model has a sound somewhat similar to the JRC4558D (matte), with a slightly subdued low end and a less overpowering tone, which some guitarists find makes it easier to express subtle nuances.
