1925 Bohemian Parlor Guitar 00 size

A lovely German-Bohemian parlor guitar from around 1925–1935, most likely built in the Schönbach/Markneukirchen region. What immediately stands out is its elegant body shape, strongly reminiscent of a Martin 00 from the same era, but combined with unmistakably European details such as the crescent-shaped slotted headstock, beautifully figured maple back and sides, geometric marquetry rosette and purfling, and an unusual carved compensated mustache bridge. The construction is light and responsive, with traditional ladder bracing and a very lively feel in the hands. Although the guitar bears no maker’s label, it has all the characteristics of a quality workshop instrument from the German-Bohemian tradition rather than a basic catalogue model. At some point in its life, a reinforcing screw was discreetly installed inside the body to strengthen the neck heel, a repair that has helped maintain the instrument’s structural integrity over the years. Fitted with La Bella nylon ball-end strings, it delivers a sweet and open voice. A charming and increasingly hard-to-find pre-war European parlor guitar that blends the look of a vintage Martin-style body with the character and craftsmanship of Central European guitar making.
