XTA Electronics SiDD is a professional digital audio dynamics processor made by XTA. The name stands for “Seriously Intelligent Digital Dynamics.” It was sold as the XTA DP324 SiDD and became popular in live sound, theater, and studio environments in the early 2000s.
It’s essentially a high-end digital signal processor (DSP) used for:
- Compression
- Limiting
- Noise gating
- Dynamic EQ
- Delay
- Harmonic enhancement
- Parametric EQ
The unit is known for very transparent sound quality and deep control over dynamics processing.
Technically, the SiDD featured:
- 40-bit internal processing
- 2 inputs / 4 outputs
- Extensive sidechain EQ options
- MIDI and RS-485 remote control
- Up to 300 ms delay per channel
A lot of engineers considered it a “digital channel strip in a rack unit,” especially before modern digital mixing consoles became common.
