Today, Lawman Guitars is Presenting...

A truly RARE Kay Guitar. Its a Kay K6110 Dreadnought with the original Case... Kay made this X-braced Maple Laminated guitar only one year in 1959. It is called the Western Rhythm Guitar. Beautiful Shape as you can see in the pics..

As you older guitar players out there know, Kay guitars were not known as easy playing guitars. I know because my first guitar was a Kay and its a Miracle that I was able to learn on that beast. We gave this guitar to our Tech and he did his New York Neck Reset on it to make it now play, much better than new! He cuts a kerf on the neck heel and then reglues it and secures it with a bolt thru the neck pocket. Easy fix and much less expensive than a full neck off reset ... Easily redone later if needed. See pic 12. He also polished the frets and worked in the bridge saddle and original nut. It plays great now!

The guitar is in remarkable shape for a 1959. Only a few player dings here and there. We know its the elusive K6110 model as it has the stamp inside the sound hole, see pic 4, and its x/braced ... Not a feature Kay guitars were known for. The X-bracing and the laminated Maple top make this guitar sound great and quite loud!

The guitar is a full Dreadnought. The lower body bout measures 15 1/2 inches...It has a 25 3/4 inch scale neck and the nut measures 1 5/8 inches. Nice round C profile to the neck that feels great in the hand. The guitar is all original to include the bridge, which is on the guitar nice and tight, the pickguard, nut and tuners...

The guitar had the top coming up some when we got it. We installed a Bridge Dr to fix that. The top is nice and flat as it should be. The Bridge Dr's work great for that malady on flat top guitars. The D bridge pin is slightly shorter to accommodate the Bridge Dr under the bridge. It works just fine. Just hold the pin down when changing strings.

The guitar includes the shown Soft Shell Case. It still as all 4 latches, hinges, original handle and even the accessory box inside the case. Quite a nice original case to go with this Historic Kay Guitar.
