The RBX200 was a classic budget option by Yamaha from the late 80s to early 90s, and hold a bit of a legendary reputation as the very first of the budget line of RBX models that has continued to this day.
The RBX200 were produced in Taiwan and released in 1988, making this a first year model and it features a candy apple red finish with a gloss black headstock and neck, and In combination with the dark rosewood fretboard it makes this one particularly sick looking.
It's been upgraded with a DiMarzio precision pickup, and a Push/Pull function on the Vol knob, which I believe controls the phase of the pickup, giving it a significantly better sound and much bigger tonal variety over the stock electronics.
The overall condition is very good, it has some typical wear and signs of use which you can see as a few bumps and some scratches on the edge of the headstock. The only other flaw I can notice is that the tone knob is a bit loose, but overall it's extremely clean for its age and was well taken care of.
The playablity of the bass is also good. The neck is nearly straight, the truss rod and all hardware functions perfectly, and the action is solid at around 2.5mm, but there is a rattle on the open A string if you pluck hard and it may need to be adjusted if it bothers you.
The classic RBX body shape and super lightweight of a mere 7.2Ib makes this bass exceedingly comfortable, and as a side note I have to say the tuners on this bass feel surprisingly good and are extremely smooth and accurate.
Will be shipped in the original matching Yamaha case.
