For your consideration is a 1999 Paul Reed Smith Custom 24 finished in a beautiful translucent red over a highly figured flame maple top, complete with its original PRS hard case and tremolo arm.

The Custom 24 is the model that helped establish PRS as one of the premier American guitar builders, and this late-90s example showcases exactly why these instruments remain so respected among players and collectors alike. Built during a highly regarded era of PRS production, this guitar delivers exceptional craftsmanship, smooth playability, and the versatile tonal range that made the Custom 24 a modern classic.

This USA-made PRS features a carved flame maple top over a mahogany body, mahogany neck, rosewood fretboard with iconic abalone bird inlays, PRS tremolo bridge, and PRS wing-style locking tuners. It is equipped with its original PRS HFS Treble and Vintage Bass humbuckers along with the original 5-way rotary pickup selector, a hallmark feature of Custom 24 models from this period and a detail many PRS enthusiasts specifically seek out.

The neck feels fast and comfortable with excellent upper fret access, while the pickups deliver everything from articulate cleans and glassy split-coil tones to rich overdrive and sustaining lead tones. This guitar easily covers classic rock, blues, fusion, modern rock, and more.

Condition:

This guitar is in very good overall condition for its age and has clearly been well cared for over the years. It was previously an employee-owned guitar that was lightly gigged on and teched consistently. The finish retains a beautiful gloss with strong flame figuring throughout the top. There are light scratches (one in the lower bout of the top), buckle rash on the rear of the body, and honest cosmetic wear consistent with normal use. A few small finish chips/dings are present in the belly cut and thigh cut areas as shown in the photos, but nothing that affects playability or structural integrity. The hardware shows light natural aging/patina, the frets show good life remaining, and the guitar plays cleanly up and down the neck.
