DESCRIPTION

CONDITION

• Plays great with strong response
• Valves are smooth with good compression
• All slides move freely
• Gold plating shows wear in typical contact areas
• Visible pitting around the valve block from hand contact (see photos)
• Light pitting visible on the exterior of the leadpipe
• Interior of the leadpipe appears clean and the horn plays well

No major dents or structural issues. This is a player’s horn that delivers where it counts.

IMPORTANT NOTE ON PHOTOS

Some photos may show reflections from lighting used during photography. These reflections can sometimes appear as waves or distortions—especially on the bell—but are not actual damage. The instrument’s surface is smooth and free of any structural warping unless otherwise noted.

PROVENANCE / BACKGROUND

Previously owned and listed by Brandon Ridenour (former member of Canadian Brass), who described it as:

“One of the first ever made… a beautiful playing horn with excellent intonation and that classic Blackburn feel.”

LEADPIPE NOTE

As with many early Blackburn instruments, there is some cosmetic wear and light pitting present on the leadpipe. While the horn currently plays well and the interior appears clean, a future leadpipe replacement may eventually be considered.

Blackburn replacement leadpipes are approximately $225, making this a straightforward service if desired down the road.
