Triptychon is a fully analog, three-part sonic artwork designed to recreate the way legendary fuzz guitar tones were originally built, combining three essential building blocks of classic tone. Built around a triptych philosophy, it brings together fuzz, treble boost/upper octave fuzz, and amp-like drive into a single, highly interactive instrument, where each section can operate independently or as part of a complete gain structure. Triptychon uses metal can silicon transistors (fuzz & boost sections) in a custom piggybacking circuit designed to deliver authentic germanium-like dynamic response and clean-up to your guitar’s volume, with stable performance in all conditions.

FUZZ (CENTER SECTION)

fuzz voice selection switch: selects fuzz type:

• vtb: inspired by Vox Tone Bender
• 3/2: inspired by Sola Sound Tone Bender Mk1.5
• 2: inspired by Sola Sound Tone Bender MkII

volume: output level of the fuzz section

(anti) buffer: engage this push switch if using a buffered bypass pedal or a guitar with active pickups before Triptychon to simulate the impedance and response of a passive guitar pickup. Leave disengaged when plugging directly from a guitar with passive pickups for proper operation.

OCTAVE / BOOST (RIGHT SECTION)

• gain: level of boost or upper octave fuzz
• mode toggle switch: select between Rangemaster-style treble boost (BST) or upper octave fuzz (OCT)

MOD (push switch)

BST mode:

• MOD off: classic-style treble boost
• MOD on (engaged): fuller mid boost

OCT mode:

• MOD off: cleaner, more organic upper octave fuzz
• MOD on (engaged): louder and more harmonically rich upper octave fuzz inspired by Foxx Tone Machine

DRIVE (LEFT SECTION) - designed to recreate the sound and feel of a driven tube amp.

• drive: controls how hard the amp-style overdrive is pushed, recreating the response and feel of a driven amp under your fuzz or boost
• tone: controls the amount of high end frequencies, brighter as you turn clockwise
• master: output level of the drive section
• operation assign switch: assign the operation of the drive section to either the octave/boost (OCB) or FUZZ, or use an external footswitch (XT) to activate independently.

Silicon Heart. Germanium Soul.

At the triptych core lies a silicon heart, beating through a custom six metal-can silicon transistor design that delivers true germanium tone and feel, with the cleanup and dynamic response players expect but without the instability.

This is not simply a matter of using specific components. It is a carefully engineered circuit approach designed to recreate the behavior, interaction, and touch sensitivity of classic germanium-based designs, while maintaining consistency in any environment.

Designed for Real-World Rigs

Classic fuzz and treble booster circuits are highly dependent on direct interaction with passive guitar pickups. In modern setups, where buffers, active pickups and wireless systems are common, this interaction is often lost. Triptychon integrates dedicated switchable anti-buffer circuits that restore the correct impedance relationship, allowing each stage to respond as intended even in complex pedalboards. Engage the anti-buffer circuits when a buffered pedal or active pickups/circuits are present before Triptychon. When connecting directly from a passive guitar pickup, leave them disengaged.

The drive section can be assigned to either the fuzz or the boost/octave footswitch, allowing it to operate within a compact, intuitive setup without increasing pedalboard complexity. For expanded control, an external, matching artwork XT footswitch (sold separately) can be connected, enabling the drive section to function completely independently. This allows deeper control over the gain structure, seamless switching between configurations, and greater flexibility without increasing pedalboard complexity.
