Vintage Telefunken U-47 — Fully Inspected & Serviced, Original Capsule & Oil Can Cap, Correct VF14M

This is a very strong example of an original Telefunken U-47 that has been thoroughly inspected, serviced, and tested by Equilibrium Audio Group (April 13, 2026). Full documentation of the service work is available.

Microphone The correct VF14M glass tube is installed, tests quiet, and exhibits zero microphonics. The original oil can output capacitor is present and correct — one of the key markers of an unmolested U-47. The capsule appears original and is in excellent condition. There is minor contamination on the front diaphragm that Equilibrium Audio Group confirmed has no effect on performance or reliability. Capsule performance was tested under transient high humidity conditions with no issues.

Some older carbon composition resistors have been replaced with modern metal film equivalents — a common and accepted upgrade that lowers the noise floor without altering the character of the microphone. One capacitor has also been replaced. All other internals are original.

Power Supply The power supply has been fully recapped and is running at correct, stable B+ voltage (~102VDC at 117VAC mains) with no noise issues.

Testing Full functional testing was completed by Equilibrium Audio Group with no issues found. The microphone was retested after approximately 2 hours of burn-in with continued clean performance. Their assessment: "a very good example of an original unit."
