The Gold Tone OT-800/L is a left-handed old time tubaphone-style open back banjo that pays homage to the great banjos of the classic period from 1890 to 1930. The 32-hole tubaphone tone ring produces the warm, complex, overtone-rich sound that old-time and clawhammer players prize. A half-inch maple rim with an authentic bracket band, ebony fingerboard with scoop, no-knot tailpiece, Remo Renaissance head, and GT Master planetary tuners. 8 lbs. Hardshell case included.

The tubaphone ring design consists of a square-section brass tube mated to a solid brass rod, encased in a turned brass sleeve. The bracket band carries the shoes without drilling holes in the rim, which increases power and sustain. Dual 11-inch coordinator rods allow precise action adjustment. The ebony fingerboard has a scoop at the pot end for clawhammer technique, and 18 frets with old time style inlay.

This is the left-handed version. The neck, nut, bridge, and string spacing are all configured for left-handed playing from the factory. No conversion required.

Every OT-800L we sell is inspected and set up by our banjo tech Tara at Banjo Warehouse in Yellow Springs, Ohio before it ships. Tara trained at the Huber Banjo factory under Steve Huber and Bennie Boling. Gold Tone also sets up every OT-800 at their factory in Titusville, Florida.
