Description:
Up for sale is an exceptional Gibson Custom Shop L-5 Wes Montgomery “Crimson”, a rare, boutique-level archtop built during Gibson’s highly regarded Crimson program.
This is not a standard production L-5. Crimson instruments were crafted in small batches by Gibson’s most skilled luthiers using hand-selected tonewoods and elevated attention to detail. These builds represent some of the finest work to come out of the Gibson Custom Shop.
This example features stunning flame maple across the back and neck, a beautifully aged sunburst finish, and elegant gold hardware throughout. The instrument is equipped with Wes Montgomery–spec appointments, including the engraved tailpiece and model-specific hardware, reinforcing its connection to one of the most iconic jazz guitarists of all time.
The result is a true collector-grade archtop with both visual presence and classic L-5 tonal depth—warm, articulate, and dynamic.
