🔷 Tandberg TR-2055 is not just another handsome 1970s receiver. It is one of the most compelling models in the TR 2000 series: a Norwegian FM receiver with a highly regarded upper-tier tuner section, unusually flexible source matching, and wide-band amplifier performance. Tandberg’s own brochure states that the TR-2055 uses the same reference-standard FM tuner as the TR-2075 and delivers more than 2 x 55 watts into 8 ohms across the full 20Hz–20kHz range.

🎙️ Time that still sounds alive
Behind the restrained Scandinavian styling, this is a very serious piece of engineering. The TR-2055 is FM-only and its published tuner section includes MOSFET transistors, 4-pole ceramic filters, and IC circuitry. Tandberg also published usable sensitivity figures of 1.7 µV mono and 3 µV stereo, signal-to-noise ratio up to 75 dB in stereo, and switchable 25/75 µs de-emphasis. That is exactly the kind of specification set that explains why these receivers are still so admired by FM enthusiasts.
