Roland Jupiter 8:
A vintage analog polyphonic synth with a huge legacy
Description
Roland's Jupiter-8, an analog polyphonic synthesizer introduced in 1981, remains a “legendary” machine to this day. Capable of simultaneously sounding up to eight notes, each voice is equipped with two VCOs (voltage-controlled oscillators), producing a sound with great depth and presence. Its tone is especially appreciated for rich pad-type tones such as strings and brass, which stand out for their warmth and fatness that only analog synths can provide.
The Jupiter-8 was also equipped with a split and layer function, allowing the user to split the keyboard and play different tones simultaneously, making it useful for live performances. It also had very stable tuning performance for its time, making it reliable enough for professional studio and stage use.
This synthesizer was used by many famous artists such as Duran Duran, Prince, Michael Jackson, Depeche Mode, and Jean-Michel Jarre, and had a great influence on the sound of pop and electronic music in the 1980s. The use of the Jupiter-8 in Michael Jackson's “Thriller” is well known among fans. One of the reasons the Jupiter-8 is so highly regarded is because of its perfection. The Jupiter-8 is not just a vintage synth, but one of the most important instruments in the history of music.
This synth is in good condition, with some signs of use and age (see photos), including some scratches, scuffs and rust on the body of the surface. *This case has a well-worn look that suggests it has been in actual use. Considering its age, the exterior and keys remain in beautiful condition. The unit has been thoroughly checked and tested by our professional technician, who has confirmed. All keys, buttons, and lights are working perfectly.
