This is a special rubber cymbal sleeve for drum kit cymbals. ✔️
It serves several important functions:
Protection: Prevents the cymbal from making direct contact with the metal stand stem, protecting it from cracks and keyhole deformation. ✔️
Sound enhancement: Unlike plastic stands, dense rubber can provide a softer response and allow the cymbal to resonate more freely. ✔️
Plinth: Serves as a support for the bottom felt, on which the cymbal itself rests. ✔️
This shape is often found on vintage stands (e.g., Premier , Sonor, Trixon and few vintage American brands have same ). ✔️
