Well-Hung "Drifter" - 3" wide padded leather guitar strap Distressed cowhide

Often get asks from folks looking for a strap in distressed /worn leather. Tried to DIY it myself a couple of times, results haven't been super convincing. Back in 2022 I was lucky enough to grab up a smallish amount of a nice weighty cowhide with absolutely that "To Hell and Back" look and feel, like it endured thirty years of trail, enduring blistering hot sun, bitter winds, freezing snow, pelting rain, sun etc... worse than grandad's old bomber jacket found in the attic, absolutely knarly too look at but while remaining unbelievably soft, thick, comfy, and strong. I've seen Eskimo sealskin boots with decades of wet/dry wear. This looks and feels a lot like that. I named the leather "Patina," at the time made three regular traps then filed away the rest of the hide into my StrapLab "Leather Library" for future custom work.

The first sold in pretty short order. Four years later I'm releasing this one-off called "Drifter," in my premium "Class Act" format. This means a heavier back buckle on the back end, protected by a pass through which protects your instrument. Adjusts 44"-59." This system is super convenient in you do NOT have to remove your strap, or your guitar to adjust length. This design also has no ladder style transition bump inside which might rub on your back, if that's something that bugs you. I don't ever seem to feel it myself, but I know there are folks out there who swear they can.

I'm warning you this leather is NOT at all pretty in the "traditional" way - looks a lot like driftwood. Gonna make anyone look twice, maybe three time... they'll absolutely wanna cop a feel. Beautifully ugly, nastily gorgeous, like say if Willem Dafoe and Steve Buscemi had a love child, (apparently this is now possible). Super soft to the touch, original finish worn near off, a hint of a soft sheen, hardly nothing. This leather is faded, stained, worn, scratched, worn, beat and appears to have been neglected like a poor old rented mule. With the trend of many custom guitars being sold in a similar vein these days, makes total sense a sling bearing one of those gats should also carry a heavy relic theme as well, lest the the wearer possibly risking lookin' dumb as heck. Just like those guitars, please don't buy "Drifter" then complain you found a scratch, or a weird discoloration. This strap is what it is. Beautifully ugly and unique.

"Driftwood" adjusts best between 44" minimum to max 59 "pin-to-pin - that's a good 9 inches longer than most off-the-rack straps, wouldn't be Well-Hung if it wasn't. So, if you want the low-hang stance that makes the best stage-shapin' possible, here you go. It's 3" or a little better wide on the shoulder, great for weighty guitars, rolled over edges that WON'T bite your neck. Strong black nose end plus a reinforced tail end tail. You'll most likely not require strap locks or beer washers to keep this on your instrument. Robust and secure, seriously like no other strap you've used - I hear it over and over.

Sewn with T90 upholstery thread, with long-wearing matching black velvet heavy upholstery fabric as lining. It good amount of grip to it which will beat back even serious neck dive. It's real comfortable on the shoulder and will dry out fast. Built inside this strap is about 24" long 3/4" thick carved upholstery foam, compressing perfectly.

I MAKE POSSIBLY THE WORLD'S MOST COMFORTABLE GUITAR STRAP. Bold claim I know. Those who are truly Well-Hung (most customers repeat), won't often disagree. It's mostly due to the my 3" wide footprint distributing weight, so it don't beat down hard on your pressure points. Then, the built-in approx. 20" of carefully carved and layered foam padding takes my straps into an other-worldy level of comfy. Just fantastic when bearing heavier guitars, lighter ones too. A big bonus is, my straps do NOT look all Michelin-man poofy, orthopedic medical devicey, or a dumb wookie ammo belt harness get-up like other comfort straps can often resemble. And, no stanky guitar finish-corroding neoprene-like substances either. In short, A Well-Hung Guitar Strap looks right, feels right, is right.

My straps are handmade by me, I am not a factory or a robot, I too am a guitar-playing brother, so I get it. It's a walmart pie v.s. grandma pie thing.
