Here is another rare, all original, vintage combo. This time it's a Silvertone 3156 50 watt 212 with tube tremolo from 1955/56 (according to our research). Do we have your attention yet? It is in very nice condition and untouched from the original owner. A true collector's piece. There is some staining on the tweed tolex, one missing foot and a few scuffs on the bottom corners. The original footswitch is missing. This amp has come from a collecter who was the original owner. It was kept, mostly unused, in a climate controlled showroom. This is a 70 year old tube amplifier in it's original state. It has an ungrounded, 2 pronged power cord, original tubes and caps. It should be serviced by a qualified tech before use. It has been tested on a variac and is working fine and sounding sweet but we did not want to push our luck so switched it off after testing. Go to 2.40 in the inbedded video and you'll buy it.

Silvertone Model 1336 Model Tube Amplifier, made by Danelectro (appr 1956), made in Neptune, NJ, serial #185-809 , two-tone alligator and tweed fabric finish.

This is a wonderful example of the Silvertone Model 1336 twin amp, one of the best and rare pieces in this brand's history. This amp was top of the line for the first full line of Danelectro designed and built amps for the Sears catalog 'Silvertone' brand. This connection lasted from the 1950s well up into the '60s and resulted in some of the most popular guitars and amps of their day for beginners, but this amp was a pro-grade product.

Clad in a two-tone tweed and alligator covering with a distinctly shaped cabinet, this model and the rest of the line became instantly recognizable after its initial introduction in Fall/Winter of 1954. The 1336 was initially listed at $149.95. Although the Silvertone line was made as cost-efficient as possible, the 1336 certainly didn't lack in features; two completely independent channels with three inputs, volume, treble and bass controls each, as well as footswitchable tremolo with speed and intensity controls. A quad of 6L6 output tubes yield around 50-60 watts into two 12" speakers. Although not a stereo amp, the 1336 does use dual output transformers, making it an overall powerful sound machine for a relatively low price. Danelectro sure showed off their cost-saving engineering prowess and marketing savvy with this model, a great value for the time.

Height is 17 5/8 in. (44.8 cm.), 27 1/4 in. (69.2 cm.) width, and 9 1/2 in. (24.1 cm.) deep.

Cosmetically, the amp is in terrific shape, especially considering the fairly fragile cabinet design. The tweed-and-gator two-tone covering is nicely intact overall with moderate amounts of scuffing and dings around the corners and edges of the cabinet as well as a couple of nicks at the front-center edge. The grille cloth is taut and free of any holes or signs of tearing. The rear control panels are clean and mostly untarnished, save for a few tape marks towards the left edge of the top panel as well as some subtle 'setting' marks around several of the controls. The original gator-clad rear panel is sadly no longer present.

Electrically, the amp is nicely original. The two 12" Utah alnico speakers are original. The Freed Transformer Co. power transformer is original as well.

This is a fantastic example of an early classic Silvertone with plenty of volume on tap and an addictive growl when turned up and pushed!
