Since its introduction in 1958, the Gibson ES-335 has been a fixture in the history of rock music with its characteristically warm sound. This ES-335 Traditional in Antique Sunset Burst is based on the 1950s models, but comes with some top-class modern details.

The guitar comes from Gibson's now sadly defunct US Memphis facility and features a special Antique Sunset Burst high-gloss nitro finish, which reveals a wonderful color gradient from dark purple to golden yellow. Together with the bold pearl block inlays embedded in the dark rosewood fingerboard, this gives the guitar a very individual appearance that harmonizes perfectly with the classic vintage cream bindings and silver nickel hardware.

The maple body with a solid maple center block weighs in at an impressive 3.43kg, giving the guitar excellent natural resonance. On the amp, two Gibson MHS humbuckers with Alnico III (neck) and Alnico II (bridge) magnets provide the characteristic warm, mid-range semi-acoustic tone, which is suitable for classic jazz and blues sounds as well as powerful rock sounds and groovy funk riffs. The guitar is an absolute all-rounder: from the screaming, carrying tone of Eric Clapton's “Woman Tone” to Joe Bonamassa's modern high-octane blues and Cris Cornell's experimental soundscapes, the ES-335 plays everything with great reliability.

Playability is very comfortable, thanks in particular to the stronger rounded “C” neck profile, the 42.8mm nut width, and the 628mm scale length.

This Gibson ES-335 Traditional was manufactured at the now closed Memphis factory (2018 was the last year of production) and boasts outstanding build quality that is now only found in Gibson instruments in a significantly higher price range.

The guitar is in mint original condition and is technically flawless. Visually, if at all, it has only the finest superficial wear (see pictures). The frets are like new.
