Overview: Eastman makes some delicious mandolins, for sure. This modernized take on a Gibson F-4 has more cut and power than the oldies but still retains that open, sweeter character that folks love about oval-hole archtops. The modern frets and radiused board give it playability advantages and it has all sorts of interesting enhancements, too -- multi-ply binding, a heavy-duty cast tailpiece, adjustable bridge, and flamed maple back and sides as opposed to the birch used on most of the original Gibsons.

Cut, fit, finish, and build quality are all excellent and the violin-style faux-aging looks nice in its way -- it's more interesting than most "relic" jobs.

Repairs included: Jose gave this a light level/dress of the frets (they had minor pitting) and a setup. It's playing bang-on and ready to go.
