Up for sale is a Rivera / PMP BUF IV, a rare vintage pedal designed and built by Paul Rivera (Rivera Amps, previously Fender) around 1978. Among the BUF series, the BUF IV is the hardest model to find, and was widely used by professional guitarists as a pedalboard control center. True to its name, it buffers the guitar signal, preserving tone and gain when running long cables or multiple pedals. The BUF IV combines a transparent clean boost that can be pushed into smooth overdrive, an A/B (sometimes described as A/B/Y) switcher for routing to different amps or signal paths, and a full effects loop with loop bypass, allowing an entire pedal chain to be engaged or removed with a single switch. A highly practical and great-sounding piece of Rivera-era gear, built for serious signal management and musical tone.
