Don't often craft these without having a custom order, but I made this one to display at a recent guitar show, it's my first with a rich dark brown background and golden wings - the resulting contrast and glow is very nice! Also should note I normally these 3" wide, but I made this one is just a bit skinnier at 2-3/4".

"Dragonfly" is wide, hand-tooled, hand-dyed, hand-painted cowhide vegtan strap. Sturdy, heavy leather typically used in saddlery, 8/9 oz weight that is nearly 4 mm or 1/8th inch thick.

A far cry from the typical "factory hand-tooled" goods BIG Strap infers are carved by skilled "artisans." Consider if what they do is feed leather through an embossing wheel or heavy press-form results in a carbon copy pattern. Calling this process "hand-tooling" deviously misrepresents what genuine real and true old-school leathercraft is, while they continue to crank out clones by the hundreds.

Cheaper, faster, that's the way they do it, absolutely devoid of soul, no heart, no art. If that's how you like your music and your guitars, get yourself a strap to match. For the Well-Hung "Dragonfly," the carving, tooling and dyeing and finishing was all done by my own two hands. There is no other strap just like it. You will find organic vibe and soul and old-school craft readily apparent in the work.

Strap is made of good strong vegtan cowhide. Adjusts between 43" to as long as 57". That's pretty long! Most ladderback straps max out at around 51" There are four iridescent "Skeeter Hawks" zipping 'round the front upper shoulder, on the hunt for skeeters, probably. Two in blue, one green, one gold coloured bodies. Wings are brushed with metallic gold, which really pop off the dark brown base. Main strap body is a dark-brown with an antique finish which almost mimics wood grain a little bit, not perfectly uniform, as hand-dyed leather will naturally have some slight variance - it just looks very earthy, and old school. It's got several layers of that Tru-Coat, to protect the art and finish it for a long, long time. Boss says they put it on at the factory, but (and this is a first)!... Well! We can let you have the TruCoat at half price this one time only, ....you betcha! Sorry, just hadda slip in a little Fargo reference there, don't-cha know?

This dragonfly is stitched with contrasting off-white heavy duty upholstery thread, padded amply on the inside with upholstery foam, and lined with colour complimentary light camel upholstery cloth for non-slip and longevity. Strap edges are dark/brown almost black and hand-burnished smooth to a bit of a shine. On the back end of the strap I dressed along the sides it up with what I call a "cowboy border" on the tail strap and along the ladderback edges. Gives it a bit of a wild western vibe, and the antique paste pulls up the stamped texture. Overall, I reckon about seven or eight total hours of work goes into a strap like this, add in the costs of leather, dye, thread, padding etc... it's fair value: nobody's gettin' rich off this, I do this sort of work 'cause I love it, many others seem to dig it too. It'll be unique to you, a conversation starter, and show stopper, all at the same time!

Also, find it nicely padded in the shoulder likely like no other strap you've worn before - you take care of this strap? It'll take care of you for a LONG TIME. "Dragonfly" will seem a little stiff to start, but after a few gigs, some handling it'll break in - over time become softer and softer, and won't look dumb or blumpy on your shoulder, like a rest home strap on the Olde Tyme Jamboree circuit. Dragonfly looks like a custom, hand-carved leather strap because that's exactly what it is, BUT (and this is important) with the addition of the extra comfort Well-Hung straps are known for. Not many hand-tooled straps are also padded!

Let me know if you use mechanical straplock assemblies when you order, I will re-punch the holes the right size for those prior to sending.

If you see this and have your own idea for a tooled sling, message me! I'll happily discuss custom work, a good portion of guitar straps I make end up that way. Personalized, one-of-a-kind heirloom pieces fit for pro-duty work, casual use in your Gear Grotto, or even to compliment a special instrument. Rest assured, a Well-Hung guitar strap is going to be comfortable, visually appealing, highly practical and very trusty.

This one IS for sale, but if you feel you need a more customized version don't buy this one! ...

Please message me first so we can talk - I can monogram, add brightwork, rivets, tooling patterns. If I have to order conchos or extra long leather / whatever for you, this might delay your project. These take a bit of time to do, due to several overnight dye and finish curing times - once I have all materials, and the consult is done, it takes about a week or a little less to complete one of these special.

I am not a factory. Every strap I make may not be identical, but will be similar. Please take time to recon my feedbacks, which will quickly confirm you will get your monies' worth. My 'merican brothers, your shipping cost is now higher. I've struggled for months on how to re-open my store for your market. Only way is add the new US-imposed duty to your shipping, plus a small fee to facilitate my pre-payment of it via the Zonos app. Otherwise, I cannot ship. Here's how it works: I can't ship 'til all duties get pre-paid to your government. I've added the extra cost to USA shipping to cover your duty in advance. It’s the only way I can ship. Once I ship, Reverb pays me back. There's NO extra profit for me here, only a carefully-calculated expense (and quite a bit more back end work!). Your top dude chose tariffs & duty as a sort of import tax, so they’re on you. I've made NO price increases on my goods or shipping for any other market, so fair value remains. My sincere hope is no surprises. Zonos estimates duty costs, so there *may* be small discrepancies, but they assure shippers it’s rare. If your landed cost ends up over $10 US more than what you paid, and you paid FULL asking price (not an offer), please contact me with details and receipts. Please know this duty situation is as frustrating for me as it may be for you and I thank you for understanding. Above all, I just want to make sure your guitars are Well-Hung! Not here to quibble, prices for shipping + tariffs are rounded up or down to the nearest dollar. Questions regarding the new W-H store policy for USA shipping? Message me prior to purchase.
