Here is the collector’s diamond in (almost) mint condition - 

My sidecar console in recording sessions. I think that the preamps and EQ section alone are worth the money.

extremely musical EQ , amazing and satisfying! A tool that saved me hours of work, these tracks integrate surprisingly into a mix.

There is just one minor issue: the pan to the left side on channels 3-4-5-6 works just completely to the left.

The pan to the right side works as it should in all channels. There is of course also the option to position any channel at the center of the mix.

It has never been a problem, or a limitation in my expression when recording or mixing process, all channels can be configured to the left, right, or center of the mix.

The full left panorama is available in channels 1-2, and I alternate L-R or center for 3-4-5-6, as per my preferences + L-R master outputs (7-8).

For example, a typical configuration for recording (drums) could be;

1 - Snare (slightly to the left)  2- Toms  (slightly to the left) -3- Toms  (slightly to the right) 4- Kick Drum (center) + 5-6 Overheads (L-R) ,

I have already recorded a choir with 1-2 full panorama on the left 3-4 center and 5-6 full panorama on the right + Master L-R

etc.

There are really a lot of possibilities to configure the pan according to your needs.

My main use for this has always been as mono preamps with Direct Out directly to my Lynx Aurora.

I have several other quality preamps (500 series, Louder Than Liftoff Silver Bullet), and the Revox was often my main preamp for vocals, choruses, and permanently installed as a sidecar for drums(submix) and keyboards (stereo line ins).

Acoustic instruments such as piano, winds (saxophone, trumpet), or string instruments in general, acoustic guitars with 6 or 12 strings, violins, double bass, and cellos are captured with extraordinary precision and warmth.

Next to my APB Dynasonics, they have been the center of my studio.

‘’The most compact Studer Revox 6-channel mixing console with a big Studer sound as well. Probably used the same hi-end preamp as in the Studer 169 model. Revox C279 is the same console as Studer A779, they looks identical and the only difference is exactly the name. Both have 6 stereo channels, great sounding mic preamps with phantom power, VCA faders and very flexible input configuration (mono/stereo lines). Both consoles are excellent choice for spoken word, acoustic jazz or classical music recording, doesn`t matter analogue or digital. Balanced XLR inputs and outputs. It kind of depends on what kind of sound you want from your mixer: totally transparent for routing and accurate mixing (hardly any character) or something that will color the sound distinctively (i.e. input/outout transformers, master buss stuff, different eq designs, preamps, etc.). Besides all that exactly that mixer comes with a full set of accessories, such as extremelly rare original factory hardshell case with Revox logo. ‘’
