Fender Custom Shop 1955 Stratocaster Compound Radius Journeyman Relic - Aged 2-Tone Sunburst

The 1955 Stratocaster Journeyman Relic feels like stepping into the golden age of Fender, but with refinements that make it a joy to play today. The ash body in aged 2‑Tone Sunburst has a depth and resonance that only gets better with the thin flash coat lacquer. It looks like it has lived a life already, and it rings like it has stories to tell.

The 1954 “U” neck is substantial, but the compound radius makes it surprisingly versatile. Chords feel solid down low, bends feel effortless up high, and the narrow tall frets give every note definition. It is a neck that makes us want to keep playing, not just for the tone but for the feel.

The handwound Fat ’50s pickups are the heart of this guitar. They shimmer, they bite, and they bloom with sustain. The RWRP middle pickup keeps things quiet in positions 2 and 4, but the sound stays pure Strat; glassy, dynamic, and alive.

What we love most is how human it feels. The relic work is subtle, the hardware feels broken in, and the guitar responds like it has already been played for decades. It is not just a reissue. It is a reminder of why the Stratocaster became the standard in the first place.
