Vadim Custom Deluxe 5 String mid - 90s - Flame Maple

Here is a spectatular Custom Deluxe 5 string bass from Canadian luthier Vadim Rubtsov. The body features a highly carved figured Maple top, with a Cherry back and Wenge in the middle of the sandwich. The 9 piece neck is comprised of Wenge, Maple and Padauk, with an incredible Kingwood fingerboard. Electronics include a 4 band preamp from IC electronics, along with Vadim's custom pickups. Controls are volume, blend, treble, bass, top mid and low mid. I have had the bass for about 11 years, having purchased it from the original owner. Vadim can't tell me the exact build date, but thought the bass is probably about 15 years old. There are a few minor scuffs, but no dings or dents that I can find. However, the nitrocellulose finish has a number of cracks on both the front and back. These were there when I got the bass, and are only visible from certain angles. I considered sending the bass back when I originally received it, but once I played it I just couldn't. It's one of those "plays like butter" instruments, and the sound is incredible. Vadim says it "cuts like a cannonball"! The bass comes in a Roadrunner polyfoam case.
