Custom built Raw State ‘Lunch Box’ /
Audix IB01 Vers 1 type Mic – Line –EQ Modules.
Raw State is new to reverb.com but has been trading for many years on another well know web site. Check out the feedback.
The Audix IBO1 is an unusual and rare item of British Recording / Studio history. The modules are very unusual in featuring an EQ circuit based on ‘Gyrator’ technology. The Gyrator is an active circuit used to emulate the way an ‘old fashioned’ inductor works. The Gyrator EQ design is most famous for being used by Cadac, another brilliant British recording desk manufacturer. The Audix modules are fascinating as the EQ is very similar to, or perhaps based on the Cadac technology.
The input and output transformers are by Marinair, most famous for being also used by Neve.
These modules sound very good indeed, with the EQ having a very different ‘flavour’ to that of Neve, Calrec, and Trident etc.
Modules have been fully refurbished for both reliability and to provide ‘as new’ performance.
Work included:
Ultrasonic bath of switches.
Replacement of all electrolytic caps. BC / Vishay types used
Replacement of all transistors.
Fitting sub card / PCB with the Audix Output Transformer drive circuit. This card was originally fitted to the separate Group / Aux module.
Replacement of the HF Gyrator ‘module’ with later Chip version, see pictures. This small PCB was provided by Mr Dave Way of Funky Junk UK.
