El Maya Stratocaster 70s 3 Tone Sunburst (with video)

I've done some reasearch on this guitar but could only find 70s Maya Stats (El Maya) with a painted logos (either black or silver)... This is the same logo but a platic screwed on version... Sort of hints at an early run (those type of logos are reminiscent of the 60s), but I could stand corrected.

This is a laminate wood guitar, so let's not get too excited... But geez, that body does resonate anyhow!  Nice vintage paint job with checking and a few real life dings (and a very light 'note' engraving I only noticed yesterday...). 

The neck is surprisingly slick. It conveys a great playability with no dead spots. Frets are low and of a rough make (I did file the edges, though), but you know, we're in retro-cool cheap guitar territory here. Truss rod works (under that huge funky cover!). Cheap tuners, but they don't wiggle and hold decent.

The two single coils are original. They have a metal base plate and sound super sweet (4.5K) with a transparent, woody tone. Hear for yourself on the video. Nice. Position 4 yields an out-of-phase volume drop. I actually like that on guitars, so that you can that mellower spot for more subtle rythym work without the use of an extra boost or drop pedal. 

All pots and caps are original (and cleaned). The HB and pickguard are off some generic 90s guitar I gutted for parts. I took a HB with smooth output so it didn't inbalance. I believe the 5-way is from a 90s Pacifia.

The tremolo bridge is locked. You can unlock it if you wish, but I don't really believe in yanking on a laminate wood body... All adjustement screws work fine.

Guitar is set-up with a hair of relif on the 12th fret. New strings.
