He redefined rock drumming with his innovative playing with Vanilla Fudge, Cactus, Beck Bogart and Appice, Rod Stewart, Ozzy Osborne, Edgar Winter, Ted Nugent and more. He literally “wrote the book” on rock drumming with his “Realistic Rock” drum method, the best selling rock drum book of all time. He introduced the rock drum world to China cymbals and gongs that are now commonplace on the modern drum set. Carmine is without a doubt, one of the most influential and innovative drummers of our time.

We've just acquired a huge collection of drum gear directly from Carmine Appice. This is just one piece of the collection currently available here at Donn Bennett’s Drum Vault.

With two China cymbals mounted prominently high above the front of his monstrous set, Carmine can be credited with popularizing China cymbals, eventually making them standard equipment on the modern drum set.

You can see one of Carmine's early Wuhan China cymbals on his right, on the cover of his 1976 Realistic Rock Drum Method book.

This early 22" Wuhan China cymbal, in great condition and ready to rock. Hand signed on both sides. The cymbal measures closer to 21.5" inches, and has a rather small cymbal mount hole. This cymbal has a trashy, authentic and big sound. This is war an authentic Chinese cymbal sounds like.
