Modulus Quantum 5 String Q5 Trans Black 

Modulus guitars was founded in 1978 by Geoff Gould. Gould was inspired to experiment with non-traditional materials after attending a 1974 Grateful Dead concert, at which he marveled at the size and complexity of Phil Lesh's heavily modified bass (customized by Alembic) and began to consider the possibilities of lighter, stronger materials. After being passed over by his employers in the aerospace industry, the project of creating hollow, carbon fiber bass necks was brought to fruition by Gould and Alembic, who built a bass with a prototype neck and displayed it at a trade show in 1977. Immediately after the trade show, the bass was purchased by Fleetwood Mac bassist John McVie. Gould and some of his colleagues in the aerospace industry founded Modulus Graphite and began to make necks for Alembic and other companies before moving on to making entire instruments.

This Modulus Quantum 5 is a beautiful example of the unbelievable quality and craftsmanship that Modulus became known for. This bass is very comfortable to play and the EMG pickups and active electronics give you endless tonal possibilities. The carbon fiber neck plays beautifully up and down with great action and the quilted maple top is off the charts. These basses start new at $4800 now making this an exceptional used find. This bass is in excellent condition overall showing no major flaws. The neck bolts have a some surface rust on them which could probably be cleaned up but we decided to leave them alone since the bass plays so well. Includes the original hardshell case.
