Romain Pickups Five/85 (handwound APR 2021) 2021 Nickel Cover (Neck) + Uncovered Black (Bridge)

** This listing is for a set of 2 brand new FIve/85 pickups - Bridge and Neck position. This set has an uncovered black bobbin bridge pickup and a Nickel covered neck pickup. The Five/85 has been spec’ed/designed around two approaches:

1) based on everything I’ve learned after years of winding my FiftyNiners as close to a PAF as I can with great sonic results, and ideas that came up that didn’t fit within the PAF build “correctness”.

2) wanting to build a line of pickups that didn’t have the limitations of what goes into a PAF and my appreciation for PRS’s approach of building guitars where he’s constantly refining and trying new things.

The Five/85 is one of those pickup sets that allowed me to refine and try new things. Though not reinventing the wheel, the Five/85 is wound hotter than a PAF, with modern coil wire to retain a bright character, and loaded with strong Alnico 5 magnets for a more modern punch and push.

These make a great upgrade for PRS SE and S2 line, offer a different flavour to your USA PRS, or work just a great in a tremolo/Floyd Rose guitar since the bridge pickup has wider spacing than the neck.
