This software is a virtual Roland Sound Canvas programmer for use with various Roland Sound Canvas synthesizers.   It simulates a hardware programmer in a software environment within the APPLE LOGIC audio / sequencer program (formerly Emagic LOGIC).     To use this software you MUST have a valid copy of LOGIC on your computer (see below) as well as a MIDI interface which connects your computer via MIDI cable to your hardware synthesizer (or you can use the built-in serial interface on some of these units). This software CANNOT be used as a stand alone application under any circumstances. It will not run in Reason, Ableton, AU, VST or any other plug-in format.   It is created and presented through use of the LOGIC “environment” architecture.

This programmer is compatible with many different Roland SOUND CANVAS models to varying degrees. Completely optimized for ROLAND SC-88 PRO, it handles all possible editing duties in that unit with the single exception of micro-tuning, and the same for the SC-88.   It will also support the earlier SOUND CANVAS models such as the SC-55 Mk II, SC-55, and a host of others using the GM standard and extras to the degree supported by your particular model’s architecture. This includes Roland’s PC computer products, Virtual Sound Canvas and many others - about 40 different units in all.   Check the WIKI page for Roland Sound Canvas if you want to see if your unit may be supported, they are all listed there.

(**It will also work for the most part with the more recent SC-8850 but does not fully support ALL the newer sound variations in that unit although there is normal GM access to most of them.   You CAN use all the other Sound Canvas maps in full, along with full GM access to the basic SC-8850 sound set, as well as all the patch editing and FX editing tools (including INSERT FX).   It will just not select ALL the patches unique to the SC-8850 in the Multi-Instrument bank set-ups.)

Upon purchase, you will ultimately receive a ZIP archive of the editor you purchased for Logic.   UNZIP this archive and you will have a choice of LOGIC song documents (v9 > vX) you can now open in the Logic program (please send special request for versions pre-v9 or PC if you require them).   Once open, you will see the editor on your screen and you can then discover the pleasures of a virtual Roland Sound Canvas programmer for your synth.

All real time moves are recordable by the Logic sequencer for repeatable real time changes on playback - or you can automate using HYPERDRAW.     You may also remotely control these SYSEX faders and buttons via a hardware control surface if you take the time to tailor the controls to suit your individual hardware.     This is not difficult to do and needs only be done once and then saved for future sessions.

The editor resides in 18 layers of the LOGIC environment hierarchy in it's own SONG document.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:

This editor is current but is still compatible with many earlier versions of Logic starting with Emagic MAC Version 4.x.     It is compatible with ALL versions of Logic through vX including v11-12.   (Logic X v10.5 has a visual bug concerning button display - corrected in v10.6)  

It is also compatible with Logic Express v7 - 9.     If you have a version 8 Logic you must use v 8.01 or higher which fixes a SYSEX bug that renders v8.0 inoperable.

This editor is also compatible with the v4 - v6 PC versions of Logic (please specify upon purchase).     In all v5's - it is compatible down to Logic SILVER.     NOT compatible with Micro-Logic or any of the other earlier neutered Emagic bundled versions.

This editor is designed to fit a screen resolution of 1024 X 768 or larger but will also work on smaller screens.
