Gibson Electric Bass EB-3 Note: because of health reason I'm selling my collections ..SERIAL # 909665.............SERIAL # 909665...Gibson had haphazard systems for serial numbers, with that said I have been told this bass may be 1969 or 1970 or 1971..collectors know this...however in total transparency ..I took this bass to Lay's Guitar shop (world renown Lay's have musicians work from all over the world), the good folks there gave me the above info...I have 100 guitars & basses..i love guitars etc..the sticker on the hard shell case read 1969..however again because of Gibson's serial number system it may be 1970 or 1971...this bass sounds terrific..deep thump if that's your gig..the tuner and volume controls work fine...as they should..no surprises..

Gibson introduced its first electric bass (“EB”) in 1953. The “EB-1” was a violin shaped all mahogany instrument that could be played in a stand-up manner with a removable telescopic endpin. The EB-1 did not prove very popular, and it was discontinued in 1958 after only 546 were produced.

That all changed in 1959, when the re-designed Les Paul doubled cutaway models were introduced. The electric bass variant was produced as a double cutaway model with the EB-O moniker due to having only one pickup. The entire Les Paul model line was revamped in 1961 to the “SG” (solid guitar) style that most bassists’ associates with the EB style Gibson bass. Available as the single pickup EB-O or double pickup EB-3, the solid body, all mahogany, SG style short scale (30 ? inches) bass proved to be extremely popular as an alternative to the Fender style bass. Jack Bruce of Cream was probably the most recognized bassist to popularize the EB-3.

Bronco Bob’s EB-3 features the small humbucker/ large humbucker pickup combination favored by Jack Bruce, and sports a custom yellow to red flame to black finish scheme. Includes hard shell case. this bass has remained in its case for many years..it needs to cleaned and polished..however it sounds great and feels great..
