RARE VINTAGE JAPANESE VANTAGE VS 600 ELECTRIC GUITAR WITH HARDSHELL CASE
You are viewing a listing for a Vantage 600VS electric guitar made in japan in the late 70's
Vantage guitars were made my Matsumoko industries in Japan from the mid 70's to late 80's. At that time Matsumoko was bought out by Singer (sewing machines?)and the Vantage name was bought by Samick. Samick made Vantages in Korea until the late 90's when the line was discontinued.
When Matsumoko began making guitars there was a strong commitment to making a quality instrument. In order to break into the US market these guitars were priced quite low for the quality of the instrument. The made in Japan guitars are considered far superior to the Korean ones.
Vantage made copies of well known guitars as well as several originals. The originals were generally high quality instruments for their cost.
The 600 VS was an attempt by Vantage to make its own guitar, not a copy. They were made in the mid 70's to mid 80's and were good solid guitars with quality workmanship and dependable. They retailed new for $180-$300. As testament to their quality, these MIJ Vantages have developed a fairly large following.
This guitar was benched at our facility. The tap switch was replaced and everything functions as it should. All of the electronics function.
CONDITION:
Cosmetically: This guitar is in great condition, please look at the pictures to see any issues. The neck is perfect and there is little to no fret wear!!
Neck, Headstock, Fretboard, Frets, Nut and Tuners: Neck straight, Truss Rod, & tuners work fine. Fretboard is great, there is little to no wear on the frets.
Pickups, Controls, Electrics, Bridge: All stock and in working order. like I mentioned we installed an on -off switch that takes the Humbuckers and makes them single coils
Comments: Like I said; If you play it’s GREAT – if you collect it’s GREAT. This guitar is in great playing condition. Since everyone has personal preferences about string gauge & how they like the action on their instruments we have not set this guitar up, but really there’s no need. The action is low and fast. We benched it and made sure everything functions as it should. The selector switch functions.
