Up for sale, an Italia Mondial Deluxe electric guitar in excellent condition and in perfect working order. The tonal character of the Mondial Deluxe is derived from the selection of classic tone woods used in its construction, with a chambered mahogany body and carved maple top providing a warm yet snappy acoustic projection that translates well through the pickup compliment. Weighing 7lbs 6oz, this Italia has been professionally setup here at Mike and Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, fast action, and spot-on intonation.
Perhaps the most unique feature of the Mondial is that it houses two completely independent pickup systems, all the way down to separate output jacks for each system. The first system is a standard neck and bridge configuration with two Wilkinson WVC Humbuckers, a three-way selector switch, and Master Volume and Tone controls. The second system is an under the bridge piezo ‘acoustic’-style pickup with a three-band EQ on the bass side upper bout.
These two separate systems offer a bevy of tonal options fairly unique to this model. The player can run the dual pickup systems into separate amps and blend the sounds to create a full, rich ‘doubling’ effect. The piezo has great acoustic sound characteristics with a more dry, percussive snap, and with the three-band EQ, you can really fine-tune the signal. Combine that sweet clean sound from the piezo with a slightly dirty, edgy sound from the humbuckers for a tasty tonal treat.
The hard rock maple neck has a fast-feeling slender C shape, measuring .805” deep at the 1st fret and .920” at the 12th. The slab rosewood fretboard features the stock slender fretwire. The frets show virtually zero wear and play cleanly in all registers with well-rounded crowns. The scale length is 25", and the nut measures 1 5/8“ in width. On the headstock, a set of Italia tuning machines with pearloid buttons and a raised metal Italia badge are present.
All of the electronics work as they should, and all of the original hardware is intact. Cosmetically, this guitar is particularly clean, with shiny chrome and a two-tone gloss Sunburst finish. A faint spot of targeted buckle rash is present on the back of the body, and there's a singular small ding on the tip of the treble side horn. The neck profile is pristine, and overall this a very clean and well cared for guitar.
A gigbag is included.
