As the President, founder and soul member of the SWVGRP, (Southwest Virginia Guitar Rescue Project) I am pleased to list this sweet little fella, ready for rehoming.
It is a made in Taiwan, Yamaha Concert size FS-310. Features a Mahogany neck, on a Nato body with a laminate spruce top. Cosmetically challenged, but in good playing condition. The Concert size body is smaller than a dreadnaught. Making it super friendly to younger players and anyone looking for a slightly smaller body, while keeping the familiar 25" scale. Measures 15" wide at the lower bought. Overall length is just under 40" making it at home in the country or just as happy as a city apartment guitar.
This little fella had seen a very rough time in the hands of circus folk. (Knife throwing family from the Ukraine, would be my guess) The nut had been knocked off, tearing the veneer on the headstock. They had used the poor little guy for target practice. (Please see pictures)
In all seriousness, the guitar is structurally 100%, although cosmetically rough. There are no cracks or bad joints anywhere I can find. The guitar plays and sounds great. Tuning machine function as they should and are smooth. When I put the nut back on I trimmed the veneer back a little to give it a smoother edge. (See photos) The knife damage to the top is ugly but does not hurt the stability of the guitar. The top is flat, the bridge is also flat to the top. All joints are good with no signs of stress or cracks. Truss rod adjusts easily and the neck is straight. Action is set on the low side of medium, plays comfortably with no buzz. You could easily drop it down a bit if you wanted or raise it a bit if you are a heavy flat picker.
It is a great first guitar or campfire guitar. (Leave your Taylor at home while you strum the night away at the field party.)
It will be safely packaged and promptly shipped. please message with any questions.
Here at the SWVGRP, we seek out poor defenseless guitars in: abusive situations, bad homes, guitar fighting rings, Kid's who want to play like Steve Miller.
