920D Custom Loaded Pickguard DiMarzio Andy Timmons AT-1 Cruiser White Pearl

920D Custom Loaded pickguards feature point to point hand soldered connections with vintage style cloth wire, 920D Custom 500K split shaft pots, CRL 5-way switches, custom cut pickguards, and top quality knobs and buttons. This pickguard features a DiMarzio DP224F AT-1 in the bridge position and two DP187 Cruiser bridge pickups in the neck and middle positions. The bridge/middle selector position splits the dual coil humbucker. This is an "in your face" loaded pickguard.

DiMarzio DP224F AT-1 Pickups

A player's player is a perfect description for Andy Timmons. He has great touch, phrasing, and tone. Since 2001, he has been playing a DiMarzio custom bridge humbucker that has only been available on his signature Ibanez guitar, and it has been his first-line pickup ever since. The outstanding characteristics of the DiMarzio AT-1 are balance, warmth, and clarity. It achieves this blend with the same patented technology as the PAF 36th Anniversary but the sound is hotter and the focus is on rock tone.

Tech Talk

The DiMarzio AT-1 was originally designed for a 25 scale, mahogany-body guitar, but it adapts very well to other instruments. It has enough bass and mids to warm up brighter guitars, and enough clarity for 24 scale set-necks as well.

DiMarzio DP187 Cruiser Pickups

If you re a serious traditional S-style guitar player, you probably won't want to know about pickups with side-by-side coils. But if you're the player who's up for something more modern with no 60-cycle hum, string drop-outs, or sustain-killing magnet pull, we designed the Cruiser for you. Harmonic overtones are right where you expect them to be from a true single-coil, and the mid-range is open and vocal-sounding. It's hotter than the traditional single-coil, and the bass strings have a bit more chunk. This is an excellent pickup to combine with medium-output humbuckers, and it maintains its tonal identity with high-gain amps and multiple effects.

Tech Talk

The obvious question about The Cruiser is How does it compare to a single-coil sound? Our feeling is that the unwound strings ( E , B , and G ) are very close, and the wound strings ( D , A , and low E ) are fatter-sounding than a true single-coil. There's also a midrange scoop that's unique to the Cruiser Bridge. This is really effective for getting big-sounding chords, because high and low strings sound more spread out from each other. Having a total magnet pull that's about 40% less than standard single-coils also means The Cruiser can be adjusted much closer to the strings for more power than stock pickups can achieve.
