We have one of each for sale.
The original retail price of the Model One and Model Two were 16,000 and 20,000 respectively. However, the company (Pacific Microsonics) did not build the processors for "retail" to the general public. Instead they were SOLD AT COST PRICE to pro-audio studios for use in all aspects of the music production process, but more specifically for the MASTERING of projects. This is why the sound quality and transparency of the A/D and D/A are so profound. These units were designed to capture the absolute purity and maintain the absolute integrity of the audio signal.
The revenue model for the company was to sell the HDCD decoder chip to consumer electronics manufacturers for use within the DAC section of there CD transports. In the end, Pacific Microsonics was bought by Microsoft for their patents.
Once no more machines were ever going to be built, the question of pricing them would always be a question of what the individual would be willing to pay for such a rare and prestigious piece of audio equipment and for that matter, history!
These machines (in my humble opinion) are collector’s items and as such, should command a very high premium. We are simply not interested in selling to anyone who does not appreciate this piece of technology and the advances it created. There are still very few units that match its capability even today, and as such, these units should end up in the collection of a Master Audiophile or Professional Audio Engineer for either personal enjoyment, or the creation of sonically superior new recordings and productions for the future. (Especially considering what is out there now).
Our model Two was sold to us 3 years ago for a little over 25,000 (after taxes and imports were paid to bring it in because it was used in the island of Trinidad) and was only sold to us because it was going to be used in the creation, recording, production mixing and mastering of works within our unique section of the world. These machines were used to create the highest resolution Steelband recordings ever produced and these archives are about to be released in honor of the 40th anniversary of Sanch Electronix Ltd, a company pioneering digital recording of Caribbean music since 1984 and founded by legendary recording engineer and music producer, Simeon L. Sandiford.
In short, we only want to sell these two units to someone who really really wants them and can afford to maintain and utilize them for the original purpose they were created.
Price includes full servicing from Pacific Microsonics Technician.
