Fender has become synonymous with classic designs and traditional tone, but their 2013 Select Stratocaster models made it clear that the Strat is never done evolving. Like an invigorating new rock band with a fresh sound, this Strat honors the past while moving boldly forward. The sound is crisp, dynamic and rich, with plenty of high-end shimmer and thick lows. With the unique fretboard/neck construction (see Item Details for specifics), Fender has managed to create a guitar with even more of that coveted Fender feel. Huge bends, fast runs and complex chords practically play themselves. This Strat is part of an extremely limited run, so you're not going to see anything quite like it elsewhere. A lot of us get in the habit of thinking the Strat design was perfected years ago, but this Select Stratocaster shows that Fender always has new tricks up its sleeve.

Item Details This 2013 Fender American Select Stratocaster Limited Edition features a gorgeous quilted maple top on an alder body. The green/orange finish is lively and energetic - be sure to check out the photos. The neck and fretboard of this Strat are made much differently than you might be used to. The 21-fret rosewood fretboard is "channel bound" in the neck. This is one of Fender's best innovations in recent years. The entire fretboard is "inlaid" into the thick modern 'C' maple neck. That binding you see on the fretboard? It's not binding - it's the maple. The result is an incredibly comfortable fretting hand feel and a cool new look. Electronically, this Strat has a Fender N3 Noiseless in each position. All of the classic chime, twang, and sparkle is alive and well - without the hum.
