Last 70's-1980's MORLEY PIK PERCUSSION Mod.PPA Pik-Percussion Effects Tel-Ray made Morley pedal Made in USA. Excellent and working condition and as the pics confirm the On/Off switch and the 4 effect switches illuminate when activated. This pedal was Morley's "flagship" pedal at one stage and is quite rare and difficult to find these days. The cable connecting the guitar to the pedal must have the Mini jack and the Steel plectrum connected to the cable which they are as you can see in the photos. It’s a 230V version for use in the EU for use in the USA a 110-230V step-up transformer would be necessary to operate the pedal.
Apart from working great as an optical buffered volume pedal with a very wide travel this device has some very unusual sounds and tricks up its sleeve:
In the “Repeat Percussion” mode there’s a deep square-wave tremolo effect. The speed of this effect is set with the rocker pedal so it can be adjusted on the fly.
Used combined with the metal plectrum plugged into the pedal, in the “Variable Attack” mode the pedal works as a reverse envelop simulator. The sound is cut out when the plectrum hits a string and swells at a speed that is dictated by the rocker pedal position. This makes it possible to replicate reverse-tape or bowed sounds quite convincingly, especially with some added delay or reverb. Because the effect is triggered by the pick it’s always perfectly in sync with the player.
The “PIK Percussion” mode is similar but adds a treble boost effect to the swell, which gives the sound more edge and the ability to cut through the mix a bit better.
"The new Electro-PIK-Percussion incorporates all the features of the PIK-Attack plus the ability to control decay time and character. An entire range of clean cutting, sharp percussive effects ist the result. Abrupt decay of a strong harmonic enables the musician to create and produce sounds like a banjo, mandolin, and many other musical sounds with the Percussion Shaper, Repeater and speed control.
The speed, or rage, of decay of the signal is controlled by the position of the pedal. The Electro-PIK-Percussion is also ideal for solo work when dominating, cutting through sounds are desired. The PIK-Percussion can also be used as a superb, standard Morley Volume pedal." (Morley Catalog 1980)
