BEHRINGER WASP DELUXE PATCH BOOK - 500 ORIGINAL PATCHES

By TSL Studio | 538-Page Digital PDF | Made in Greece

UNLOCK THE FULL SONIC POTENTIAL OF YOUR BEHRINGER WASP DELUXE!

Discover a huge range of analog sounds with the WASP Deluxe Patch Book by TSL Studio — a comprehensive 538-page digital guide featuring 500 original patches created specifically for the Behringer WASP Deluxe monophonic analog synthesizer.

From deep, gritty basses and expressive leads to evolving pads, brass-inspired tones, metallic bells, experimental percussion, cinematic sound effects, repeating rhythms and unusual modulation textures, this book explores the WASP Deluxe from its classic analog character to its more experimental possibilities.

Every patch is presented with detailed panel diagrams, clearly marked knob positions, control settings, a description of the sound and three practical playing tips. Four visual sketches illustrate the VCA envelope, control envelope, filter response and control oscillator waveform.

The book also explores one of the WASP Deluxe's most distinctive features: both envelopes can repeat, creating rhythmic pulses, evolving filter movements and additional modulation possibilities.

Whether you are producing electronic music, designing sounds for film, recording bass lines or exploring experimental synthesis, this collection provides a practical reference for creating, recreating and developing your own sounds.

12. External Audio (451–485) - 35 patches

Explore how external audio can pass through the WASP's mixer, filter and VCA, allowing other sound sources to be shaped using the synthesizer's distinctive analog circuitry.

13. Jack Lab (486–500) - 15 patches

Experimental connections using the oscillator outputs and audio input. Explore unusual routing possibilities and feedback-based effects beyond the standard patching examples in the manufacturer's Quick Start Guide.

EVERY PATCH EXPLAINED WITH DETAILED CONTROL SETTINGS

Every patch page is designed to help you reproduce the intended sound directly on your WASP Deluxe.

Each patch includes:

  • A detailed panel diagram with the intended knob positions marked in colour.
  • Numerical knob values using the documented 0–10 scales where applicable.
  • Oscillator settings, including footage, waveform and oscillator tuning guidance.
  • Mixer settings for the two oscillators, noise generator and external audio input.
  • Filter settings, including filter mode, frequency, resonance (Q) and modulation amounts.
  • VCA envelope settings, including attack, decay, sustain/repeat and HOLD.
  • Control envelope settings, including attack, decay and delay/repeat behavior.
  • Control oscillator settings, including frequency, waveform and pitch or filter modulation.
  • A sound description explaining the character and construction of the patch.
  • Three practical playing tips to help you adjust and explore the sound.
  • Four visual sketches showing the VCA envelope, control envelope, filter response and control oscillator waveform.
  • A dedicated notes area for recording your own adjustments and variations.

The diagrams distinguish standard knobs from stepped selectors and centre-zero controls. This makes it easier to interpret waveform selections, oscillator footage, filter modes and positive or negative modulation settings.

For oscillator tuning, the book provides relative settings and advises tuning by ear where exact positions are not specified by the manufacturer's documentation.

DISCOVER THE WASP'S REPEATING ENVELOPES

One of the most interesting features covered in this book is the ability to use the WASP Deluxe's envelopes as repeating modulation sources.

When the VCA SUSTAIN is fully down, the VCA envelope can repeat while a key is held. When the CONTROL ENV DELAY is fully down, the control envelope can repeat as well.

By combining different attack and decay times, you can create:

  • Repeating rhythmic pulses.
  • Pulsating filter sweeps.
  • Evolving patterns without an external sequencer.
  • Interlocking rhythms from two envelopes operating at different speeds.
  • Additional low-frequency modulation effects.
  • Experimental tones created by running the control oscillator at faster rates.

The dedicated Envelopes as Oscillators reference chapter explains these techniques and how they can change the way you approach the instrument.

EXPLORE ALL FOUR FILTER MODES

The WASP Deluxe's multimode filter provides four distinct approaches to shaping the sound:

  • Low-pass: Reduces high frequencies for darker, rounder tones.
  • Band-pass: Emphasizes a frequency band for nasal, vocal-like and wah-style sounds.
  • Notch: Attenuates a frequency region for phaser-like tonal colors.
  • High-pass: Reduces low frequencies for thinner, brighter and more cutting sounds.

The Filter Studies chapter explores cutoff movement, resonance, sweeps and waveform comparisons, helping you understand how the filter changes the character of a sound.

CONTROL OSCILLATOR — FROM SLOW MOVEMENT TO AUDIO-RATE MODULATION

The control oscillator is more than a conventional slow modulation source.

Its selectable waveforms include sine, rising saw, falling saw, square, noise and random. At slower rates, it can create vibrato, filter movement and stepped modulation. At faster rates, it can modulate oscillator pitch or the filter at audio rate, producing metallic tones, bells, growls and unusual timbres.

The patches demonstrate how oscillator waveform, modulation depth and rate interact with the WASP's filter and envelope sections to create different results.

EXTERNAL AUDIO & JACK LAB EXPERIMENTS

The book includes dedicated material for working with external audio and exploring the available audio connections.

External Audio: Use the EXT AUDIO IN connection to bring another sound source into the mixer and shape it with the WASP's filter and VCA.

Jack Lab: Experiment with oscillator outputs and the external audio input to investigate additional signal-routing possibilities and feedback effects.

The Jack Lab includes experimental connections that are not explained in the manufacturer's Quick Start Guide. Results can vary between units, so these patches should be approached carefully, with the volume low before connecting or removing cables.
