Up for sale is a rare, vintage 1959 Reynolds Contempora Model 40-L (Large Bore) trumpet, serial number 77733. Manufactured in Cleveland, Ohio during the highly regarded Roth-Reynolds era, this professional-grade horn is an incredible find for jazz players and vintage brass collectors alike.Unlike the standard medium-large models commonly found today, this is the rare Large Bore (.462") configuration. It features the factory-installed 1st-valve trigger mechanism, the iconic bronze-alloy bell, and the nickel-silver tone ring. It produces a massive, rich, and highly resonant sound.

The Outfit Includes:

• 1959 Reynolds Contempora Model 40-L Trumpet (Serial #77733)
• Original vintage Reynolds 7A mouthpiece (highly collectible, solid plating)
• Sturdy protective hard case (non-original aftermarket case in good working condition)

Condition Details:

• Playing Condition: The horn has excellent valve compression. The Monel pistons are smooth, fast, and highly responsive.
• Stuck Slide: The 1st-valve front tuning slide is currently stuck from sitting in a closet. My local repair shop quoted $130 for a full professional chemical clean and service to free it up. I have adjusted the listing price down to reflect this, leaving room for the next owner to service it with their own trusted technician. Do not attempt to force it loose yourself.
• Cosmetics: The instrument has a beautiful, honest vintage patina. There is standard surface pitting in the original lacquer from normal age and use, but no active red rot.
• Dents: There are a few small, minor dents typical of a 65-year-old instrument. They do not affect the playability, structural integrity, or sound.

This is an exceptionally honest, unmolested restoration candidate or daily player. Shipping will be fully insured and packed with extreme care. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or reasonable offers!
