Audio Research LS3 Preamplifier. New Capacitors - Black

Hello. I have a really nice Audio Research LS3 for sale. I recently replaced the four electrolytic capacitors as they were due for replacement. I have worked on several hundred pieces of equipment over the years and more than eight LS3s specifically.

This was a Class A Stereophile rated preamp from the 90s. It is still a giant killer in my opinion and can outperform modern preamps costing well over $3000. It features a “Direct” input that bypasses the balance pot and stereo-mono rotary switch for the purest signal.

This unit is in an amazing condition. Running your finger across the top / rear edge of the faceplate; you can feel some minor anomalies. Other than that, I could not find any other issues. The previous and original owner covered the unit when it was not in use. It was very clean inside. I cleaned all the RCAs with DeoxIT contact cleaner.

This is the later version with the thicker faceplate and squared off handles. This unit is not balanced and does not have the remote-control option. It is just a straight RCA preamp.

I don’t have the original box but will pack well to ensure it arrives safely. Special attention will be paid to the front switches, so they don’t get broken. Let me know if you have any questions.
