Boss SD-1 with Sparkle Mod
All Modest Mike's Mods modified pedals are warrantied as new. This one comes with the box :)

This is one with original through-the-hole circuitry, not the surface mount model Boss has been selling for the past few years. Check out the video clip (last pic) for this pedal. And I just can't emphasize this enough...USE YOUR HEADPHONES!

This mod takes the SD-1 to the next level! We do this by making the SD-1 more Hi-Fi, improving the bypass circuit to eliminate tone bleed through, adding a bass boost switch, adding a two-way gain switch, and fixing the "blanket over the speaker" issue this pedal has. Here is a list of what this mod offers:

1) Double the amount of available distortion.                                                      
2) Two way gain switch that allows you to select between the warmer and more gain heavy Germanium mode and the LED mode which gives a volume boost, more clean headroom, and an overall thicker tone.     3) Improved fidelity and clarity.                                                                          
4) Increased presence.                                                                                          
5) Bass boost switch.
6) Improved bypass mod prevents bleed through.

This sounds even better than my Waza SD-1. I can’t decide which clipping option is my favorite but I tend to stay in the germanium setting the most. Raw and aggressive like the stock SD1 but with more balls and clarity. The bass boost is a nice option but I like how the SD1 cuts low end so I leave that off. But it’s there if I ever want it. Hi Mike- I saw you got the Blues Driver delivered yesterday and I got the SD-1 back, -WOW, I had a chance to try it out earlier for a short time and it is Incredible and will be on my board permanently. It sounds Really Great, and the gain is perfect for me now, I cant wait to hear some other pickup types through it tomorrow-(today was humbuckers)-Thanks again Mike- Bob

I gotta tell you, the modified SD-1 is the pedal that blows me away. Before the mod it sounded okay. Decent OD that just sounded a bit muffled. The tone was there just hidden a little. Now it is wide open and sounds fantastic, more transparent to use the cliché. I have been using an MXR Custom Badass Modiified OD and I think it may be kicked to the side, at least for a little while. And (God forbid I say it) my FullDrive 2 Mosfet may get sold. This pedal sounds better (to my ear anyway) than some $100+ "custom"/boutique units....I am impressed."

I received my SD-1 and BD-2 today and had an hour or so to play with them. Man, what a difference. The BD-2 is definitely smoother and more open, for lack of a better way of putting it. It can be plenty beefy with the switch engaged and the high end fizziness is gone. Great sounding pedal just made better. I gotta tell you though, the modded SD-1 is the pedal that blows me away. Your pedal mod was a hit this weekend!! My friend John really likes the pedal, and normally he hates everything he hears. I think he only hears what he wants! He wants to borrow it next week to finish his solo on a couple of tracks! Not bad he says, not bad!

Got the pedal today. Sounds great! Like a tube screamer on roids! I think the LED is cool too, the back row at Wembley should spot it!

I just got the pedal yesterday and gave it a little test run....WOW!!! It sounds awesome! It is exactly what I was looking for. It sounds so open, crunchy, and clear!

I could not believe the SD-1!!! WOW! I hit the 1st chord and was blown away! I have the newer TS-808 and 2 Fulltone pedals and I tell you this thing shames the TS-808 and hangs with the Fulltones...and maybe even out performs them too...sadly enough!

Hi Mike, I have received the pedal. Can't believe I received it so quickly! Bonus points for that. I have to tell you that I am blown away that a Boss pedal could sound so good. Great job. I play a Gibson Les Paul Traditional with the 57 pickups on it into a Blues Junior 3 with the Eminence Wizard speaker in it and it sounds great. I set the junior to a slightly overdriven sound that is clean when backing off the guitar volume and then kick the SD-1 for more overdrive and sustain. I get a variety of sounds playing with the guitar volume.
