JHS Double Barrel V3 Hand Painted – 11/10/2011 – Serial #242 – Rare Early JHSFor sale is a particularly interesting piece of early JHS Pedals history: a hand-painted JHS Double Barrel V3, Serial #242, with a documented internal date of November 10, 2011.This is not simply an estimated production date. Inside the original enclosure, the pedal is handwritten “JHS Pedals ‘Double Barrel’ V3” and dated 11/10/11, providing direct documentation of this pedal’s early 2011 origin.Early Hand-Painted JHSLong before today’s standardized JHS production pedals, the company was producing pedals with individually hand-painted enclosures. These early examples have become particularly interesting to JHS collectors because each enclosure has its own artwork and represents a period when JHS was still a much smaller pedal builder. This example features an elaborate, completely hand-painted scene across the enclosure rather than the standardized graphics found on later Double Barrels. The artwork alone makes it a unique piece—there won’t be another one exactly like it.Double Barrel V3The Double Barrel became one of JHS’s signature dual-overdrive pedals, combining two independently switchable drive circuits that can also be stacked together. This early V3 provides a wide range of gain options, from lower-gain and dynamic overdrive sounds to considerably more saturated tones when the two sides are combined. The additional switches and controls allow for substantially more tonal flexibility than a conventional two-channel overdrive.Beyond its usefulness as a pedal, however, this particular example is most interesting today as an early artifact from the development of one of JHS’s longest-running pedal designs.Collector HighlightsOriginal JHS Double Barrel V3Hand-painted enclosureSerial #242Internally dated 11/10/2011Handwritten internal “JHS Pedals ‘Double Barrel’ V3” identificationEarly JHS productionIndividually hand-painted artworkTwo independently switchable and stackable overdrive sectionsPre-dates the standardized production artwork of later Double Barrel versionsMade in the USAConditionThe pedal is in Very Good condition, with cosmetic wear consistent with its age and use. Importantly for a collector, the original hand-painted artwork remains intact and presents extremely well. The inside of the enclosure retains the handwritten JHS identification and 11/10/11 date. Photos of both the exterior artwork and internal markings are included so collectors can see exactly what they are purchasing. The pedal functions as it should. For a JHS collector, this one checks a lot of boxes: an early Double Barrel V3, original hand-painted artwork, Serial #242, and—most importantly—a clearly documented November 10, 2011 production date inside the enclosure.A genuinely cool surviving example from the early years of JHS Pedals.Ships carefully packed and fully insured.
