Here for sale we have a Gibson SG Standard 120 in Ebony finish. Made in the USA in 2014, this guitar was part of a limited run in celebration of Gibson's 120th anniversary, and features a special '120th Anniversary' 12th fret inlay. A set-neck construction is employed, and comprises a Mahogany body, Mahogany neck and 22 fret Rosewood fingerboard. Chrome hardware is fitted including a T-O-M bridge and Stopbar tailpiece and upgraded Schaller Deluxe Kluson-Style tuning machines. The pickups are a set of Gibson 498T/490R Humbuckers that are wired to two volumes, two tones, and a three-way pickup selector. The Mahogany neck plays fantastically, with the Rounded '50s profile feeling nicely slender in the hand and offering a smooth and responsive playing experience across the register. the profile could perhaps be described as a 'D' shape, with a slightly flattened area to the centre rear which encourages ergonomic thumb positioning in all registers and ensures easy reach across the fingerboard. There is no question that the top frets are much more easily accessible than on a Les Paul, with the slim neck heel and double-cutaway design opening up the full register of the instrument. Traditional 12" fingerboard radius is paired with medium jumbo frets to provide a playing surface which is comfortable and practical for a wide range of styles and techniques. The pair of Gibson passive humbucking pickups sound thick & full bodied, just as we expect from Gibson. The 498T/490R set can be found as standard in a multitude of Gibson guitars, and are loved by players for their versatile & highly usable tones. The neck position is round & powerful, with a rich low end that’s great for lead lines & solos. The bridge is of course brighter & hotter, and can easily drive your amp into a saturated distortion for rhythm parts & riffs. The middle position is nicely balanced for clean parts, and with the traditional Gibson control layout, there is plenty of scope for dialling in your perfect tone whilst playing. A finish repair is present to the front face treble side edge, this can be seen near the high E tuning post and has lightly exposed the wood beneath the finish. More lighter finish repairs are present to the tips of the top edge, these can be seen under close scrutiny. All aspects of the headstock display light signs of past use.Neck: Overall very good condition. A light indentation is present to the rear of the neck at the 6th fret, this can be felt slightly in the playing position. Light scratching is present to the rear of the neck across the register, these c\an only be seen under direct light.Body: Overall very good condition. All aspects of the body display light indentations which can only be seen under close scrutiny, the most apparent of these can be seen to the rear face lower bout, this has not exposed the wood beneath. All aspects of the body display light scratching which can only be seen under direct light, as is common with gloss finishes.Condition of Frets:The frets demonstrate light signs of use, not affecting playability. There is considerable material remaining for any fret work the new owner may wish to perform.Current Set Up:Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (5/16" socket) not included.Hardware: Overall very good condition. All aspects of the metal hardware display light tarnishing and scratching of the finish. Mild fine scratching is present to the pickguard, these can only be seen under direct light. The tuners have been upgraded to a set of Schaller Deluxe Kluson-Style tuners.
