The 143rd international convention of the Audio Engineering Society, or AES, descended upon the Javits Center in Manhattan this week, and we were on the scene to scope the latest from the world of professional recording and audio arts.
In addition to a stacked schedule of panels and presentations covering everything from "Loudness Issues in Cinema" to "Machine Learning and Music Recomposition," AES also includes a tradeshow where various high-end audio companies come to the table with their latest gadgets and designs.
Take a look below at some of our picks for the coolest studio gear on display at AES this year.
A particular highlight of the show comes from sE Electronics. We’ve seen an updated version of its classic condenser, the sE2200, that comes equipped with new new pad and filter options, better clarity, and lower noise. Released alongside the sE2200 is the V7 X — a version of the handheld V7 vocal mic that’s optimized for various instrumental applications. The sE2200 will retail for $299 and the V7 X for $129, and both are expected to hit the market in mid-November.
