Today, Fender announced a brand-new release joining its Artist Signature Series: the Shawn Mendes Foundation Musicmaster.
The Shawn Mendes Foundation strives to empower Shawn Mendes's audience to get involved in causes that they believe in and are passionate about and to give back and inspire change when and where they can.
"I am so excited to release this guitar collaboration between Fender and The Shawn Mendes Foundation," said Mendes. "I hope it inspires some of my fans to pick up and learn guitar for the first time, and give back while doing so."
For a collaboration with a foundation that focuses on youth, it just makes sense that the Fender model chosen would be the Musicmaster—a popular short-scale design from the 1960s, well-suited to the smaller grip of students and beginner guitar players.
This special Mendes Musicmaster features some exciting and very unique flourishes, like a custom body featuring an original floral design made by a Shawn Mendes fan. It also features a custom neckplate featuring Shawn's signature and the Shawn Mendes Foundation's "Solar Burst" icon.
The guitar's alder body is married to a C-shaped maple neck with a 9.5-inch radius and 22 jumbo frets. It features a SH pickup configuration, with a Tex-Mex single-coil Strat pickup in the bridge and a Player Series Humbucker in the neck. Finally, it's outfitted with a six-saddle string-through-body hardtail Strat-style bridge and bent steel saddles.
