A Pink & Paisley '52 Fender Deluxe | Find of the Week

When Joe Bonammassa showed us his incredible gear collection, one of the most impressive lineups was a full set of Tweed-era Fender amps, all in mint condition (and with multiples of each, because why not).

And while not every fan or collector has the means to do the same, most will at least try to secure an amp in as pristine, original condition as they can find. But our Find of the Week this go-around is just the opposite.

Pink and paisley 52 Fender Deluxe

This 1952 Fender Deluxe (a 5B3 model to be exact) has been given a whole new look and plenty of new parts, thanks to the creativity of its previous owners.

The Tweed-era amp is no longer tweed at all, but a share of pink that still allows the cabinet's wood grain to shine through. The paisley cover cloth is of course hard to miss.

A skilled tech or two have also gone through and made a lot of internal fixes and changes over the years, and recently. The mods and changes include:

  • High-quality Jupiter and F&T carbon comp resistors throughout the circuit
  • An aftermarket output transformer (though power transformer remains original)
  • A Weber 12A125A speaker
