                                                                                                                                                                                                                           If you're a singer or drummer looking for something special with excellent sound quality and an old school style flair then you might want to consider this classic, rarer Shure microphone. It comes with the vintage metal mic case shown.

 You are looking at a 1960's / 70's era Shure Brothers 546 model based on the more familiar SM56 dynamic cardioid microphone with uber strong output and warm, smooth tone. The signal strength on this old mic is 100%. Sounds like new and absolutely...no issues. It's dual Z with the flip of a switch on the lower shock mount so you have a mic that can give more or less bass depending on your voice or what type of audio equipment you are working with.

 Pic # 2 shows this very model in an older 1960's Shure catalog I have with all of it's basic specs.

 Pic # 3 shows Frank Sinatra using one of these as well during a live performance. Pic # 4 shows the Beatles using one of these as well. It was used by all the greatest performers of the day. Even Jim Morrison used the 546 while performing live in concert. The 546 was basically the exact same mic as the SM56 except that the 546 model came with the prettier satin chrome finish that had bling factor but the problem with chrome mics back in the day was that they could cause extreme glare and distortion with the T.V cameras of that era which was a disaster for anybody trying to record live T.V shows or concerts so Shure Brothers offered the SM56 model with the dark green / grey painted finish to solve that issue. It's no longer a problem today but back then it certainly was.

 This 546 has distinctive looks and was a radical new design for Shure Brothers when it was first introduced to the world in 1960 as was more aggressive looking. It came with the modern style XLT attachment as well as the built in impedance switch and internal shock mount to reduce unwanted feedback. This was a very expensive model mic and far fewer of them were sold due to that.

 This 546 was just one of several models offered in the 545 series line up but the 546 was eventually discontinued in the 1970's and finding one of these today can be a challenge. Especially one this nice. These mics are great for vocals and exceptional as a snare mic on drums. 

 As you can see in the pictures provided there is just lite signs of wear. The satin chrome finish is free of and deep scratches or fractures. Just lite scratches and scuff marks. Some subtle bubbling in the chrome on the top right side of the barrel. The plastic cartridge has no cracks or fractures but does show lite scuff marks as well. Mic is 100% solid. No loose parts. The front screen shows no dents or tarnish. The mic has been thoroughly cleaned and gone over. The XLR pins were cleaned as well ensuring a better connection once the cable is attached.  Joint mechanism has plenty of resistance and it's adjustable and the threads for the stand are perfect...not stripped in any way. The impedance switch cover is held on by two smaller screws. Simply turn the impedance switch on the cover to get the impedance you desire. You can get High Z or Low Z depending on your personal needs or audio equipment you are working with.

 She certainly sounds better than she looks. The inner foam screen is brand new and in excellent condition. The old one was falling apart. This really helps greatly reduce unwanted "pops" from breathing and singing too close to the mic.

 This mic takes a standard XLR cable which is not included but easy enough to get ahold of.

 You'll see there is a vintage Shure Mic case included in which to keep the mic in while not in actual use. The all metal case has a nice stock painted exterior that has virtually no lite wear and the locking mechanism works great. I added two new foam pads as the originals were pretty beat up.

 This mic is an easy 7 + on a scale of 1 - 10 and one of the nicer examples still in circulation. Best part is much like the old American SM-57's and SM-56's...these 546 model mics continue to climb in value. One of the finest classic Shure mics to use on the daily.
