This is the ultimate U67 built with Max Kircher’s famous kit and lots of original Neumann parts.

This professionally assembled and tested MK67 microphone kit was built from Max Kircher’s April 2025 limited production run. It includes the genuine Neumann BV12 transformer, a NOS Telefunken PF83 tube, a custom 7-pin Sommer Octave cable and Kircher’s limited edition power supply — all meticulously integrated and verified for top-tier performance. The BV12 was installed by a technician at Vanguard Audio, ensuring expert handling of this rare component.

On top of these upgrades, an original vintage Neumann U67 7 pin connector was installed in the mic and the proper connector was added to the cable, the same used by Neumann.

The side rails of Max mod were also replaced by original Neumann parts, ensuring secure attachment to the microphone head.

This mic uses an original 1980s U87A i head that is still sealed. This U87 head has never been opened, insuring all vintage components inside are original. The body tube and bottom screw also belong to a 1980s U87A i. The shock mount is also an original vintage Neumann Z 48.

Everything is perfectly housed in a Neumann aluminum case.

Anyone who ever used Max mod kits knows how great they are. This U67 mod can’t get any better. It sounds, works, and looks great. I have 3 of these in the studio that were built with the same specs. Most of the engineers who use our studio are impressed by the sound quality of these U67s. I know sound quality can be subjective, but this U67 sounds better than the Neumann reissues. While they share the very same transformer and electronics, this one has a NOS Telefunken tube, a 1980s K870 capsule (from the original pre Sennheiser era), and a better quality cable.
