I am offering a Gibson SG Standard Heritage Cherry from 2013, the crafted in Nashville, Tennessee (USA), luxury SG Standard model featuring a lightweight mahogany body (2.84kg total weight!), set mahogany neck with ‘60s SlimTaper neck profile and 43 mm corian nut, bound rosewood fingerboard with trapezoidal acrylic inlays, two sonically versatile and powerful Gibson ‘57 Classic humbucker pickups, angled mahogany headstock with Crown Pearl logo inlay and Kluson Vintage Style Deluxe tuners with Keystone knobs in a thin Heritage cherry nitrocellulose finish with elegant nickel hardware in excellent condition, including black Gibson hardshell case, manufacturer’s paperwork, and professional setup with 10-gauge Ernie Ball strings.
This infamous, devilishly cool high-end variant of the Gibson SG is unmistakably inspired—in both aesthetics and feel—by the legendary ’61 SG, the blues and rock workhorse that has shaped generations of musicians around the world. Carlos, Santana, Angus Young, Ace Frehley, and Derek Trucks—this guitar has been played by a host of renowned guitarists and continues to inspire anew to this day!
This 2013 Gibson SG Standard carries on that legacy. The guitar features a solid mahogany body with the classic double-horned contour, which, beneath the thin Heritage Cherry Nitro finish, delivers outstanding natural resonance despite its light weight of 2.84kg. Constructed with a set-neck design, the mahogany neck is set into the body and, thanks to the slim ‘60s Slim Taper neck profile combined with the short 628mm scale length and the 43mm corian nut, offers excellent playability all the way up to the highest registers.
Two Gibson ’57 Classic pickups are responsible for the SG Standard’s electrical signal conversion. By using classic Alnico II magnets and asymmetrically wound coils, the pickups are clearly modeled after the legendary PAF humbuckers of the golden era and elicit not only creamy overdrive sounds for blues and rock from the guitar amplifier, but also airy clean tones for expressive chord and melody playing.
A sound sample of the model can be found above at the end of the photo gallery.
A Nashville Tune-o-Matic bridge ensures precise intonation, and the Kluson Vintage-Style Deluxe tuners provide reliable tuning stability.
