No guitarist goes long before experiencing the captivating grip of Eddie Van Halen's supremely singular style and air-slicing high-output tone -- and now with your MXR EVH117 Van Halen flanger pedal, you can tap into EVH's unparalleled flange tone. Adorned with Van Halen's instantly recognizable black-and-white-striped graphics, this monster of a pedal features manual, width, speed, and regeneration controls, a bucket-brigade design to bring you that classic analog sweep and whoosh, and, to top things off, an EVH preset switch to set this baby to Eddie's exact settings for "Unchained." Unleash the beast within your axe with this forceful flange pedal.
our MXR EVH117 has a neat, easy-to-read control layout to help you hone in on the exact amount of flange effect you want to mix in with your signal. Starting from the left, your manual knob controls the filter/pitch character of the flange effect. Your width control sets your pedal's LFO amplitude -- the amount of modulation that occurs. The speed control determines how quickly modulation occurs, and the regeneration knob lets you feed any amount of "wet" output back into the input.
The sonic possibilities with flange pedals are virtually limitless, and a few popular settings will get you on the road to fusing your own sonic signature...
Chorus: To get a chorus-like sound, set your regeneration all the way down, and then bring your manual down for slower or longer delay times. Keep you width and speed low as well, but not all the way down.
Jet Flying By: For this effect, keep your speed moderate, set your manual at 50%, and bring your regeneration up. Set your width to the sweep range you want, then dial in that sweep region with your manual control to your own liking.
Classic Sweep: Maximize your width and set in a moderate speed. Add as much regeneration as you like.
Automatic Wah Effect: Keep your width low and set a fairly fast speed. Add a little bit of regeneration and manipulate your manual control to tune your auto wah settings to your own taste.
- Manual, width, speed, and regeneration controls
- Uses two 9-volt batteries or external power supply
- Bucket-brigade design brings you classic analog flange
- EVH switch provides Van Halen's settings for the EVH song "Unchained"
- Durable die-cast chassis design features EVH's classic striped graphics
